ActiveConverts organic and food waste into compost and other inputs for desert agriculture, operating organic-waste recycling facilities designed for arid climates.
Founded in 2017 as a KAUST spin-off by Dr. Sabrina Vettori (CEO), Mitchell Morton (CTO), Saud Alhagbani, and Rowan Jandu, Edama is a Thuwal-based cleantech/agritech company that recycles organic waste into desert-agriculture products, including a facility at KAUST's Research & Technology Park. In October 2023 Edama entered a joint-venture partnership with Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC) -- a wholly-owned Public Investment Fund (PIF) subsidiary -- to co-develop large-scale organic-waste recycling and desert-agriculture projects across the Kingdom; this is a partnership, not an acquisition, and Edama continues to operate independently under its own CEO.
