elGrocer is an online grocery marketplace that lets shoppers order from nearby supermarkets and specialty stores across the UAE, with more than 500 outlets and 120,000 products listed at the time of its sale. It was founded in Dubai in 2015, launched in early 2016, and raised $544,533 from 78 investors on the Eureeca equity-crowdfunding platform in 2017. Etisalat Group bought 100% of elGrocer DMCC to fold it into its Smiles marketplace, completing the deal in January 2022.
