Lithium Infinity
ActiveDirect lithium extraction (DLE) technology combining electrodialysis with proprietary ceramic (LLTO) membranes to recover battery-grade lithium from seawater, oilfield brines and other low-concentration sources
Lithium Infinity (Lihytech) is a KAUST spinout developing membrane-based direct lithium extraction that can work on very dilute or magnesium-rich brines, including Red Sea water and oilfield produced water. It runs a pilot plant at KAUST Research and Technology Park and is testing Aramco oilfield brines, aiming for full-scale lithium output in Saudi Arabia by 2028. It was founded in 2021 by KAUST professors Zhiping Lai and Kuo-Wei Huang with Sulaiman Al-Thunayan.
