Terrax Environmental Limited processes waste streams that conventional recyclers reject — carpet, fibreglass, Tetra Pak cartons, multi-layer packaging, films and crisp packets — into durable composite products for construction, events and logistics. A key operational advantage the founders cite is that the incoming waste does not need to be washed, which matters in a water-scarce region. Registered in Masdar City with production in the warehouses of Mussafah, Abu Dhabi's industrial area, it brought its core processing technology from Brazil, with the machine due to arrive in the UAE in September 2023. Its highest-profile output is TerraTile, developed with ADNEC Group and launched in April 2024: each tile embodies over five kilograms of recycled waste, can be installed, removed and refurbished more than 100 times, and is recycled into new tiles at end of life. The TerraTile partnership won Gold for Best Sustainable Product and Bronze for Best Circular Economy at the Gulf Sustainability Awards 2025.
