UnitX was spun out of KAUST by PhD graduate Kiran Narayanan and Professor Ravi Samtaney. It started by reselling spare supercomputing capacity as an on-demand cloud service. It then pivoted to Vizard, an edge-AI platform that analyses CCTV and drone video in real time to detect hazards at oil and gas sites, airports and events.
