Wayakit was founded by KAUST PhD researchers Sandra Medina and Luisa Javier. It began with an instant laundry spray that removes stains and odours using patented biotechnology. It now makes industrial cleaning and disinfection formulas that it says disinfect in 30 seconds without water. The company opened a 20,000-litre-per-day pilot plant at KAUST in 2021 and signed a nationwide contract with Saudi Ground Services in 2023.
