Wimo was founded in 2017 by the software engineers Wissam Aboueida and Mohamed Bahaa. It began with a platform that let businesses automate and track their own delivery operations: agent tracking, route optimisation and digital proof of delivery. By 2021 it had become a cross-border e-commerce shipping service connecting merchants to several couriers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the GCC. Since August 2024 its website has returned a hosting 'site not configured' page.
